Digital Art and Design
I was born and raised in Charleston and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Education with a specialty in Graphic Communications from Clemson University in 1983. In 1989 I earned my Masters Degree in Vocational-Technical Education.
In 2000, I earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certifcate.
I taught Graphic Communications for seven years at Donaldson Career Center in Greenville, then for 20 years at Hamilton Career Center in Oconee County. In 2010, I moved back to Charleston and taught for three years at Garrett Academy of Technology.
During my teaching career I have been a SkillsUSA advisor since 1990, serving on both the Executive Council and the Board of Directors for most of that time. I have also served as a FIRST robotics mentor of Team #343 from 1999 - 2010, and still volunteer at the FIRST Robotics Palmetto Regional competition each year.
I have two children, Angela and Christopher. Angela, 25, is a graduate of Furman University with a major in Chemistry, and attends the University of Virginia where she has finished 2 years of medical school and is working on her PhD in Biomedical Engineering. Christopher, 22, graduated from Clemson University in December 2013 with a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism. He was employed with the Clemson University Athletic Department as one of the equipment managers for the football team as a student. He is a manager at Chick-Fil-A. He is married to Kahli and they run a dance studio in Pendleton.
